Do you stress about stress before there is even stress? Then stress about stressing over stress that doesn’t need to be stressed about? It’s stressful we know.

Some say that working at an agency can be rather demanding. What with looming deadlines, difficult clients, technology malfunctions and so on. That said, while agency life can be stressful, it can also be extremely satisfying.

But back to talking about stress…

Stress can wreak havoc with your creative productivity, and despite what you may think, you don’t need a spa weekend or a retreat – although this would be ideal.

Top tips to reduce stress

Here are our top 5 tips to help you reduce stress and assist you in keeping on keeping on.

Take a Coffee Break

Take a Coffee Break

Sometimes the best thing for stress is to focus on something else. Coffee with a colleague, friend or loved one can be the best medicine for the soul.

Take some time out of your day to de-stress with a good cuppa and a good chat, no doubt you’ll feel better after – even if all you did was vent!

They (I still don’t know who they are) say if your body feels better, so does your mind. Being active acts as a stress reliever and helps to boost your feel-good endorphins (chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers) improving your ability to sleep, which in turn reduces anxiety and tension. It’s a win-win! No more excuses, pull on those running shoes and get some fresh air – 30 minutes is all you need.

When you start meditating, try for only 10 minutes at a time and increase the duration bit by bit as you go. You can also try meditating for 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening, once you get the hang of it. Spending even a few minutes in meditation can help to restore your calm and inner peace.

It’s simple and inexpensive, and it doesn’t require any special equipment.

If your mind wanders…don’t worry…breathe…ohmmmmmm

Exercise, meditateLaugh Out Loud

Do you ever notice that your shoulders are up around your ears while you’re working? Remind yourself to relax and try laughing! Laughing out loud helps to lower cortisol, your body’s stress hormone, all while boosting brain chemicals (endorphins) – helping to lift your mood. Why not watch your favourite comedy, read a comic, or simply chat to someone who makes you smile?

Rock Out to Some Tunes

Research shows that listening to music can help lower blood pressure, heart rate, and anxiety. All you need to do is create a playlist of all your favourite feel-good songs, pop in those earphones and enjoy. Feel free to sing at the top of your lungs!

At the end of the day, you are responsible for your own wellbeing, so make an effort to take time out so that you don’t burn out.

Rockin TunesIf all else fails…

Book that spa day – you deserve it!
